  • Effective Mite Control

Exzolt contains fluralaner, a proven active ingredient that effectively eliminates over 99% of poultry red mites within a single treatment cycle. By targeting the mites’ nervous system, it ensures comprehensive control and prevents re-infestation, creating a healthier living environment for your chickens.

  • Easy Administration

Exzolt is incredibly easy to use. Simply add the recommended dosage to your chickens' drinking water. The treatment involves two doses given seven days apart, providing a convenient and hassle-free method for protecting your flock from red mites. Detailed instructions ensure proper application every time.

  • Safe for Chickens

Exzolt is safe for all chicken breeds and ages, including laying hens. With a zero-day egg withdrawal period, there is no interruption to egg production during treatment, making it a reliable choice for poultry keepers who prioritise both health and productivity.

Why Use Exzolt?

Exzolt offers an innovative approach by targeting mites directly through the chicken rather than the environment. Administered via the flock’s drinking water, Exzolt is absorbed into the chickens' system and becomes active when mites feed on their blood, effectively eliminating the parasites at the source. This simple yet effective method ensures thorough protection and long-lasting results.

All your questions answered

What is Exzolt used for?

Exzolt is used to treat and control poultry red mites in chickens. It works by targeting and eliminating mites that feed on chicken's blood, providing effective protection against infestations.

How long does it take for Exzolt to work?

Exzolt starts working quickly and eliminates over 99% of red mites within the first treatment cycle, which consists of two doses given seven days apart.

Can humans catch poultry mites?

While poultry mites primarily affect birds, they can bite humans if their usual hosts are unavailable. However, they do not live or reproduce on humans and are generally a temporary nuisance.

How much Exzolt should I use?

The dosage of Exzolt depends on the total weight of your flock. The exact amount required should be calculated carefully, following the instructions on the product label. The dose is 0.5 mg fluralaner per kg body weight (equivalent to 0.05 ml of product) administered twice, 7 days apart. The complete course of treatment must be administered for a full therapeutic effect.

Preparation and Dosing in Water

For Small Flocks
The dosage for Exzolt is approximately 0.05ml per kilogram of chicken body weight. For every 1kg of chicken, mix 0.05ml of Exzolt into 50ml to 100ml of fresh drinking water. This range corresponds to the typical water intake of a 1kg chicken over a 4-12 hour period.
The treatment should be repeated after 7 days.
Note: A standard commercial white leghorn layer chicken weighs roughly 1.8kg.

Example
For a mixed flock consisting of 4 chickens weighing 1.8kg each and 3 bantam chickens weighing 800g each (total weight: 9.6kg):

Dosage: 0.05ml × 9.6kg = 0.48ml of Exzolt.
Mix this 0.48ml dose into 480ml to 960ml of clean drinking water.
Provide this medicated water until it is fully consumed, then replace with clean water.
Repeat the treatment in 7 days to ensure effectiveness.

For Medium to Large Flocks
In situations where dosing each chicken individually isn’t practical, Exzolt can be administered by mixing it into the first water provided for the day.

Recommended Administration
Treatment is advised at least twice a year (early spring and late summer) to control poultry red mites (PRM).
Mix the prescribed dose of Exzolt with clean water. The total water volume can be flexible but should match the flock's expected intake over 4-6 hours to ensure even dosing.
Stir the solution gently to avoid foaming (similar to preventing excess foam in beer).
Rinse the Exzolt container twice with water to ensure no residue remains, and include the rinse water in the drink for full dosage delivery.
Remove access to all other water sources during treatment. Keeping the flock confined to their coop or run may help.
Once the medicated water is consumed, replace it with fresh drinking water and restore access to alternative water sources.
The second treatment must be administered 7 days later to ensure full efficacy.
For specific guidance on larger commercial flocks, refer to the Exzolt Administration Guide.

The dosage for Exzolt is approximately 0.05ml per kilogram of chicken body weight. For every 1kg of chicken, mix 0.05ml of Exzolt into 50ml to 100ml of fresh drinking water.
